In the late summer of 1998 or 1999 (can't remember which) I ended up alone in my Denton, TX apartment for two weeks with an Electribe ER-1, an E-mu Emax and my roommate's Yamaha QY70. During that time I saw hardly anyone. I sampled some of the QY70 voices into the Emax, but otherwise the QY was only for sequencing. What you hear on these tracks is just an Electribe and an Emax.

I tracked everything through a cheap mixer into a regular old cassette deck, so the compression gives it a much more lo-fi feel than it had coming through the speakers back then.

A year later the Emax ate the diskette all the samples were on, so this is the last remaining evidence I ever made these songs.

At the time I thought I'd call my electronic project "Satellite Smile," but that was 20 years ago and I haven't done much with it since. So now that's just the name of this collection of four tracks.
